In vivo Research Assistant, Translational Research 100%
The Institute of Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology Basel (IOB) is seeking a highly motivated in vivo Research Assistant to join the Translation Group.

Your position
- Key person for in vivo Experiments
- Perform surgeries, behavioral tests, monitoring of experimental animals, breeding management of transgenic animals
- Perform molecular biology experiments (cloning, DNA, RNA isolation, PCR, qPCR, sample preparation for sequencing)
- Perform histology on tissue samples, sectioning, immunostaining
- Acquire a series of confocal microscopy images
- Quantify images using pre-defined algorithms
- Prepare GLP compliant reports
Your profile
- Biologielaborant/in (or equivalent education) or Bachelor's/Master's Degree (or equivalent) in molecular biology or related field
- please acknowledge that a LTK1/FELASA or equivalent qualification is mandatory to be considered for this position to thrive in this role prior mouse work experience is required, including surgeries, injections, managing animal cohorts and monitoring, behavioral assays
- experience in genotyping and breeding management of transgenic animals is a plus
- ideally the candidate lives in Basel-Area or is willing to relocate
- strong experience of cell biology, molecular biology and biological research including
- Independence in planning, conductance, analysis and troubleshooting standard molecular biology experiments
- Enthusiasm to establish and optimize new protocols and techniques
- Ability to follow GLP compliant SOPs and precision in documenting findings and preparing reports
- highly organized, detail-oriented and computer skilled
- Fluency in both English and German is a must (written and orally)
