Postdoc in Evolutionary Genomics and Bioinformatics

University of Göttingen

At the University of Göttingen – Public Law Foundation –, GRK 2984 Evolutionäre Genomik: Folgen biodiverser Fortpflanzungssysteme, there is a position as

Postdoc in Evolutionary Genomics and Bioinformatics (all genders welcome)
Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L / 100%
Starting date: 01.01.2026
Contract end: 30.06.2028

This position will be mainly engaged to guide and coordinate synthesis papers of the research training group, with a focus on nuclear genome evolution in eukaryotes. The goal of our research training group, including 11 subprojects, is to analyze the evolution of genomes in sexual and asexual organisms in animals, plants, fungi, and microorganisms. Our collaborative efforts will provide a better understanding of the “paradox of sex” in nature.

The task of this postdoc will be to develop analysis pipelines, train PhD students in specific workshops and courses, develop overarching meta-analyses and joint papers, and present results in talks and at conferences. The postdoc will have ample opportunity to bring in own ideas into these joint papers, benefit from first authorships, broaden methodical expertise, and establish scientific networks.
