The Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH) at the University of Luxembourg is an interdisciplinary research centre committed to high-quality research and public dissemination in the field of contemporary history with a particular focus on digital methods and tools.
The C²DH's ambition is to venture off the beaten track and find new ways of doing, teaching and presenting contemporary history of Luxembourg and the history of Europe in the 20th and 21st centuries. It serves as a catalyst for innovative and creative scholarship and new forms of public dissemination.
Your role
- Conduct a PhD Thesis
- Contribute to our dedicated Wikibase instance
- Curate and model historical migration datasets within the dedicated Wikibase instance
- Contribute to the design of ontologies and metadata schemas for the knowledge graph
- Develop data-driven case studies exploring migration trajectories
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including historians, data scientists, and archivists
- Participate in the dissemination of research through academic publications, conferences, and public-facing digital platforms
- Contribute to the research project’s open science and reproducibility efforts through documentation, GitHub repositories, and notebooks

Your profile
- Master’s degree in Digital History, Data Science, Historical Migration Studies, Digital Humanities, or a related discipline
- Proven interest in historical research, migration, and digital infrastructures
- Familiarity with digital tools and languages such as Wikibase, SPARQL, RDF, Python, GitHub, and Jupyter Notebooks is highly desirable
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experience with Linked Open data and open data standards is an asset
- Fluency in English and French. German is a bonus
